Steps
- Sort household items into 3 bins: trash, recycling, and compost. Practice together. Earth gives us air, water, food, and homes — so we take care of it!
- Go on a litter cleanup walk with gloves and a bag. Pick up trash in your yard or park.
- Plant a seed or a small plant. You're helping the Earth grow!
- Draw a picture of a happy, healthy Earth and one thing you'll do to help it.
- Tell a grown-up one thing that surprised you.

Kindergarten (ages 5–6)

- Learn about 3 types of pollution: air (car exhaust), water (litter in rivers), land (trash in parks).
- Make a 'Save the Earth' pledge: write 3 things your family will do to help (recycle, turn off lights, use less water).
- Build a bird feeder or bug hotel from recycled materials to help local wildlife.

- Conduct an environmental survey of your neighborhood: note litter, green spaces, gardens, and wildlife.
- Research a threatened species in your state. Why might it be having trouble, and what are people doing to help?
- Investigate your family's water usage for one day in broad categories: drinking, washing, cooking, and outdoors. Where could you conserve a little?
- Build a mini compost container and learn what can and can't be composted.
- Write a short letter or poster explaining one environmental issue you care about and one realistic action people could take.
- In one sentence, tell a parent or sibling what surprised you today.

Upper elementary (ages 8–10)
Analyze a few big environmental issues and turn them into one realistic family or community action plan.

- Estimate your family's environmental impact in simple categories like transportation, home energy, food, and waste. Which areas seem biggest?
- Investigate one case study such as ocean plastic, deforestation, or coral reef damage. Write a short summary of causes, effects, and solutions.
- Design an environmental action project for your community: reduce, reuse, recycle campaign, tree planting, or water conservation.
- Create a proposal with: the problem, a few pieces of evidence, your solution idea, and how you would tell if it helped.
- Present your action plan to your family and begin implementing one step.
