Steps
- Sing 'Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes' while touching each body part.
- Explore your 5 senses: see something red, hear a bird, smell a flower, taste a cracker, feel something soft.
- Trace your hand and foot on paper. Count your fingers and toes.
- Test your body: how far can you stretch? How high can you jump? How fast can you run?
- Draw a picture of yourself and label 5 body parts.
- Tell a grown-up one thing that surprised you.

Kindergarten (ages 5–6)
Discover what's inside your body: bones, muscles, heart, lungs, and brain. Learn what each does to keep you alive and moving.
Steps
- Feel your bones: touch your elbow, kneecap, and ribs. Bones are hard and protect you.
- Feel your muscles: make a fist and feel your arm muscle flex.
- Listen to your heartbeat: put your hand on your chest. It pumps blood to your whole body.
- Breathe deeply: watch your chest rise and fall. Your lungs take in air.
- Draw a simple body outline and draw bones, heart, and lungs inside. Label each.
- Tell a grown-up one thing that surprised you.

Early elementary (ages 6–8)
Study body systems: skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory, and circulatory. Conduct experiments to observe how your body works.
Steps
- Research 5 body systems. Create a chart listing: system name, main organs, and job.
- Experiment with the respiratory system: count breaths per minute at rest, then after 1 minute of jumping jacks. Why does it change?
- Trace the digestive system path: mouth to stomach to intestines. How long does the whole digestive tract measure? Older textbooks often say about 30 feet, but modern measurements on living people put it closer to about 15 feet (5 meters) because muscle tone keeps it compressed. Either way, it is WAY longer than you are tall!
- Test your pulse: find it on your wrist. Count beats for 15 seconds and multiply by 4. Compare at rest vs. after exercise.
- Build a model of one body system using craft materials (pipe cleaners for bones, balloons for lungs, tubing for blood vessels).
- Write a 'Day in the Life' story from the perspective of a red blood cell traveling through the body.

- Map the nervous system: trace how a nerve signal travels from stubbing your toe to feeling pain in your brain. How fast do nerve signals travel?
- Investigate body system interactions: how do the circulatory and respiratory systems work together during exercise? Write a scientific explanation.
- Design a health experiment: track your heart rate, water intake, and sleep for 5 days. Analyze patterns.
- Create a 'Body Systems Museum' with labeled diagrams, fun facts, and interactive questions for visitors.
