Steps
- Show pictures of space objects and say each name clearly: star, moon, sun, rocket, planet.
- Have your child repeat each word and point to the matching picture.
- Draw your favorite space object together and label it.

Kindergarten (ages 5–6)
Build a space word wall with drawings and labels. Practice spelling space words and using them in sentences.
Steps
- Write 8 space words on cards: planet, star, asteroid, rocket, astronaut, orbit, galaxy, comet.
- Draw a picture on each card and display them as a word wall.
- Use each word in a spoken sentence: 'The astronaut flies in a rocket.'

Early elementary (ages 6–8)

Upper elementary (ages 8–10)
Watch a 5-minute astronomy video in your target language, learn 5 new space vocabulary words, and create a labeled diagram entirely in the target language.
Steps
- With a parent, find a 5-minute astronomy video for kids in your target language (try NASA en Espanol on YouTube, El Universo for Spanish, C'est pas sorcier for French, or a Mandarin children's astronomy channel).
- Watch it once for general meaning. Watch it a second time and write down 5 new space vocabulary words you hear (planeta, estrella, galaxia, etc.). Use a dictionary if needed to confirm meaning.
- Draw a labeled diagram of the solar system or another space topic and label every part using ONLY the target language — no English on the diagram.
- Read the diagram aloud to a family member, pronouncing each label, then explain in English what each word means.

Safety and evidence note
Read the full activity before beginning. An adult should supervise tools, heat, food, outdoor work, movement, and experiments as appropriate. Completion records that the activity was done; the child’s explanation, work sample, photo, or demonstration is stronger evidence of learning than a completion check alone.
